Motom's referral program allows you and your creator friends to earn more together. When you refer a creator to Motom using the invite link found on your profile, you'll earn 20% on their sales commission for the first three months they're on the platform. (Don't worry, the 20% comes from us here at Motom and doesn't come out of the commission from the creator you referred.)
Posts on the For You feed are tailored to each user’s experience and the types of content they interact with on Motom, TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. Some of the posts are also featured by Motom’s editorial team. To increase your chances of being featured on the For You feed, post frequently, tag multiple products to your social posts, and share your profile in your link-tree and in your Instagram Stories.
Earning on Motom
When someone makes a purchase driven by the products you've tagged to posts or added to your Motom storefront, you earn 10% commission from thousands of brands and retailers including fan-favorite retailers like Urban Outfitters, ASOS, Sephora, Princess Polly, Shein, Nike, Girlfriend Collective, Ulta Beauty, Wayfair, and more. You can tag products to your existing content posted to Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, or to original content on Motom like images and ThisOrThats.
You’ll also earn commission if a product you added directly to your storefront, curated into a Collection, or shared via an affiliate shortlink drives a sale. Via Motom Creator Match, you may be selected for flat-fee opportunities with our brand partners.
You get paid 10% commission when a sale occurs that's associated with your Motom activity. Some merchants may even pay a couple cents simply when someone clicks on the products you've posted! When you earn commission, it is based on the entire value of the final purchase, not just the product you tagged or shared.
When you see the Piggy icon next to a product on Motom, it means that the product is covered by affiliate and commissionable. When someone makes an eligible purchase from those products, the person whose post the product is associated with will earn 10% commission.
Affiliate shortlinks on Motom enable you to drive purchases of products from anywhere off the Motom platform and earn commission. Whenever you see the Piggy icon on your Motom content, you can grab a link and share it with your friends and followers via Instagram Stories, your link hub (Linktr.ee, hoo.be, Beacons.ai, etc.) or even as your main link in bio if you're getting lots of questions about where to buy an item. When they buy, you'll earn the same commission that you would if they'd purchased through your Motom profile. It’s fast, easy and a great short cut for you to drive sales from anywhere.

When you earn money via product sales as a promoter or creator on Motom, those earnings will initially display as pending and will not be eligible for cash out until Motom has received payment from the individual retailer. Retailers typically wait between 30-90 days before paying any commissionable earnings to account for product returns or any other necessary corrections. Once Motom has been paid for a transaction by a retailer/affiliate network, the earnings will move from pending to your current cash-out balance.
We (and all companies working with creators who earn through their platform) are required by the IRS to report the annual income you receive from Motom via a 1099 form. This requires us to collect your tax information in a W-9 form before making our first payment to you. If you live outside of the United States, you will need to fill out a W-8 BEN form. You’ll find these forms during your payment set up process. If you have any questions, you can email money@motom.me for assistance.

Troubleshooting
If a link is going to the wrong product or store, we can help. Please email us at help@motom.me.
This could happen for a few reasons...
1. Your TikTok is private
Due to TikTok's privacy settings, we cannot populate your Social Deck with your TikTok posts. The only way to fill your Social Deck with TikToks is to make your TikTok profile public.
2. You haven't allowed Motom to read your TikTok videos
When you authenticate Motom on TikTok, you're given the option to 'Manage access,' which includes reading your public videos on TikTok. This must be on in order to populate your Social Deck. To fix the issue, please go to the Social Connections in your Motom Settings. Click 'Connected' to disconnect your TikTok and then click "Connect" to re-connect. When you get to the 'Manage access' page, it should look like this:
3. Your TikTok Settings on Motom are set to private
We allow all users to choose which of their socials appear on their Social Deck. If you want your TikTok to appear, and the above fixes didn't work, please check your privacy settings by clicking here.
It's possible that your privacy permissions on Instagram for Motom are restricted if your Social Deck is not pulling your Instagrams in.
To fix this…
- Visit https://www.instagram.com/accounts/manage_access/
- Remove Motom
- In your Motom settings, click CONNECT next to Instagram. This will open the Instagram app or website.
- Tap Allow to securely allow your Instagram to connect to Motom with cookies and similar technologies. This is a requirement from Instagram.
- Select Allow again so Motom can import your profile information to streamline your account.
TikTok may auto-connect the wrong account due to a unique setting on the TikTok platform. If you are accessing Motom through a browser (i.e. Safari or Chrome) and the proper account isn't connecting, it's likely because you're logged into the wrong account on your browser (doesn't matter which TikTok you're logged in on the app).
To solve:
- Go to https://www.tiktok.com on the browser you're using to log in to Motom. Click Not now to opening the app so you can continue your experience on the browser.
- Access the profile you're logged into by clicking the user icon in the bottom-right of the screen.
- Once your profile is open, click the three-dots on the top right of the browser and log out.
- Then you can immediately go to your Account Settings on Motom and click CONNECTED next to TikTok to disconnect the wrong account. Confirm you want to disconnect.
- Click CONNECT next to TikTok.
- You'll be prompted to log into the correct account at that point.
- When you click Connect for TikTok, you are prompted to Manage Access on TikTok.
- If Read your public videos on TikTok is off, then your Motom profile cannot populate due to TikTok's privacy settings. Make sure you're allowing Motom to read your public videos.
